US Senator Cynthia Lummis has accused the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) of destroying documents related to digital assets, specifically concerning Operation Chokepoint 2.0. This operation is believed to be an effort by the US government to limit the influence of the cryptocurrency sector. The allegations were made public through a post on X (formerly Twitter), where Lummis cited whistleblowers within the FDIC. The agency had previously called for a 'pause' on crypto activities in the banking sector, reinforcing suspicions that regulatory actions are aimed at keeping cryptocurrencies out of traditional finance.
